Scholarship awarded to Bright Hope members attending two or four year accredited colleges, universities or vocational schools. Qualifying students must be members of Bright Hope and an active member of one or more ministries in the church. Students must show proof of acceptance and attendance by submitting rosters or official transcripts. Students attending as freshman must provide high school transcripts as well as proof of enrollment in college.
Scholarship awarded to a full time student pursuing a four-year college degree and/or a career in nursing or related studies; must be an active member of Bright Hope Baptist Church with a G.P.A. of at least 3.0. Required documentation is outlined in Bright Hope Scholarship description.
Scholarship awarded to a full time student pursuing a degree in 2 year or 4-year program in any field of study. Applicant must be a Bright Hope member active in at least one ministry.
2 Book Awards awarded to scholarship candidate attending any college or university. Students must be a member of Bright Hope, have a GPA of 2.5 or better, active in community service and school organizations. An interview is required in addition to the documentation listed above for the Bright Hope Scholarship.
Awarded to a full-time student pursuing a four-year college degree, a two-year associate degree in any field of study or a vocational/technical degree. Student must have a passion for education and to help others in that pursuit. Candidates must be active in at least one Bright Hope ministry and do community service through another organization or at school. Candidates must list school or community activities and service. Other required documentation is outlined in Bright Hope Scholarship description.
This award is given to support two 2014 senior high school graduates entering a trade or vocational school undertaking a trade i.e., barbering, plumbing, cosmetology, auto mechanic, etc. In addition to submitting documentation listed above for the Bright Hope Scholarship, candidates must submit statement providing information about their community service, activity in school organizations, activity in a Bright Hope Baptist Church ministry, and indicating their need or hardship.
This award is designed to support students that have the love, commitment and dedication for church, community, and God as exhibited by Rev. William H. Gray, III. The award is open to any student (graduate, undergraduate, or continuing education) attending a two year or four year university. Candidates must be active in at least one Bright Hope ministry and document it on the application. Candidates must submit an essay of no more than 250 words explaining who you are, your plans for the future and how you plan to give back in addition to submitting the documentation listed above for the Bright Hope Scholarship. Essay should be appropriately labeled and attached to the scholarship application. Note: First preference will be given to freshman and male students.
This scholarship is in honor of the memory of my mother Maeruth Benjamin, who was dedicated to children and social work. It will be awarded to any student (graduate, undergraduate or continuing education) attending a two or four year university who may not necessarily be at the top of his or her class. Hard working, students with averages of a C or better may apply. Candidates must be active in at least one Bright Hope ministry and do community service through another organization or at school. Candidates must list school or community activities and service. Applicants must submit a letter stating their need for the award in addition to submitting the documentation listed above for the Bright Hope Scholarship. This scholarship is offered to an applicant pursuing higher education on any level. Candidates must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 250 words describing what strategies you will incorporate into your studies to be successful in the academic year in addition to submitting the documentation listed above for the Bright Hope Scholarship. Letter should be appropriately labeled and attached to the scholarship application.
This award is in memory of Herbert Holmes, Sr. Herb was a servant of God. This award is for a student who has given of their time and talents to help someone else. It will be awarded to any student (graduate, undergraduate or continuing education) attending a two or four year university. Candidates must be active in at least one Bright Hope ministry and do community service through another organization or at school. Candidates must list school or community activities and service as well as submit an essay of no more than 250 words on the topic “Why do you feel it is necessary to volunteer or render service to others?” in addition to submitting the documentation listed above for the Bright Hope Scholarship. Essay should be appropriately labeled and attached to the scholarship application.
Scholarship awarded to a Bright Hope member attending a two or four year college or university (graduate or undergraduate) majoring in any of the healthcare fields/disciplines. Students must submit an essay of no more than 250 words explaining why they should be considered for the award in addition to submitting the documentation listed above for the Bright Hope Scholarship. Scholarship awarded to young ladies majoring in English, English Literature, Creative Writing, Publishing or related subject. Candidates must have 3.0 GPA or better, be active in community service and school organizations, as well as BHBC ministry(ies). Two letters of recommendation are required in addition to documentation listed above for the Bright Hope Scholarship. Preference will be given to freshmen and/or daughters of a single parent.
