About Our Executive Pastor

Reverend Carmen Marshall is Executive Pastor and servant leader of the historic Bright Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is responsible for ministering to the needs of Bright Hope’s diverse membership and community. Reverend Marshall is charged with leading the congregation in pastoral care, evangelism and outreach, oversight of Bright Hope’s numerous growing ministries as well as strategic planning, finance, administration, and operations. Reverend Marshall is the first woman to lead the church in 107 years.

Reverend Marshall conceptualized and convened the first annual Ministry Budget Conference, bringing together, Bright Hope’s 28 ministries for training and planning. Her trainings include, Expand Your Ministry through Collaboration, Church on Mission: Going Beyond the Walls and Excellence in Ministry.

Additionally, Marshall has authored numerous training programs and materials as well as bible studies for the church at large, Excellence in Ministry: A Leadership Training Manual for Church Leaders; The Soulful Leader; Soul Mission: An Evangelism Curriculum for the Church; Leading with a Shepherd’s Heart; Ministry Toolkit; Four Key Questions: Fulfilling Our Divine Assignment; Fasting and Prayer; and Dreams and Goals to name a few.

Reverend Marshall is the author of the book, 40 Days of Delight: Fasting Calendar and Journal; creator and founder of 40 Days to Freedom, an empowerment and personal growth program for women.

Her prayer and goal until Jesus comes is to work unceasingly for the Kingdom of God, stirring up a hunger and passion for God in others, by making herself available to the Lord to be used however He sees fit.

Married to the love of her life, Pluria W. Marshall, Sr. She is the mother of three wonderful children and is excited about being grandmother to two grandsons.
